The Royal Armouries
See collections of about 75,000 items. This is the UK's national museum of arms and armour. There's a serious amount of history here, dating back to the Middle Ages. The celebrated core of the collection originated in the nation’s working arsenal, built up over many centuries at the Tower of London. Being one of the oldest visitor attractions in the country, objects were already being arranged for display as early as Queen Elizabeth’s reign in the 16th century. Entry is free. www.royalarmouries.org
